Tina Erickson - letz sing choir

Letz Sing!

Letz Sing is a choir community in the Comox Valley that welcomes participants to experience the joy of singing. Under the direction of conductor Tina Filippino (formerly Tina Erickson), these singers come together weekly in three locations to share in the uplifting experience of singing in harmony.

letz sing choir courtenayLetz Sing members have a shared enthusiasm for singing together and a desire to build stronger community relationships through music. Whether a person is a first time participant or a seasoned singer, there is a place for every voice in this unique and inclusive choir community.

Music is common to all cultures.  Group singing has been important in passing on information, stories, history, and values. Participation in singing is a birthright, a way of forming bonds in community relationships, affirming values, and most importantly, an opportunity to experience the expression of unity and diversity.

"Like many people I had a real fear of singing and of anyone hearing my less than adequate voice. But I really wanted to sing. I had heard that all voices were welcomed at Letz Sing and that you didn’t have to have a good voice to join. So it was with some, or more truthfully, a lot of trepidation that I joined. I loved the easy to learn joyful music, and immediately felt comfortable with Tina’s ‘call and response’ teaching style. I felt part of the one big voice of the choir. I assumed that this incredible big voice was a result of the fact that everyone else was a really good singer. I gradually learned that more than half of the people in the choir also thought that they couldn’t sing.  In spite of this, we were making beautiful music and having fun. What  a gift this has been to me."
